About Vader OG

Vader initiated his breeding program in 2006 by combining SFV OG Kush and Larry OG genetics with a male specimen from the "Mystery Kush" collection called Mr. E. Although breeding stock females were periodically refreshed, the Mr. E male consistently transmitted potent OG Kush characteristics when crossed with Pakistan and Afghan-influenced plants. Through four generations of selective breeding and evaluation of more than 350 female candidates, Vader and Bubblefett isolated three phenotypes exhibiting the strongest OG Kush traits. These three selections—Ocean Grown Kush #1, #2, and #3—were named in recognition of the theory that "OG" refers to "Ocean Grown." This breeding phase marked the foundation of Ocean Grown Seeds as established by its founding members. By 2008, selected Vader OG Kush phenotypes were hybridized with Hells cut crossed with Ocean Grown #3. Ocean Grown Kush males #1 and #2 were retired following initial crosses. Vader and Bubblefett conducted another extensive phenotype hunt screening hundreds of seeds, ultimately identifying three nearly phenotypically identical OG Kush-dominant females. After validation testing, one female was eliminated, leaving two stable lines designated Vader OG and Jedi OG. From 2009 onward, these two cultivars became staple genetics within the Team OG collection and subsequently distributed through Southern California dispensaries. Vader OG achieved greater market recognition. The strain expresses a spicy pine scent combined with a pronounced kushy-hash flavor profile. It demonstrates characteristic OG Kush expression while maintaining notably robust production levels compared to other OG varieties.
