About Sinai
This landrace originates from the remote desert regions of Sinai, where Bedouin cultivators have maintained this strain for generations. Cannabis cultivation in Egypt stretches back millennia, with evidence of use dating to ancient pharaonic times, possibly extending to the second millennium BCE when it served medicinal purposes.
This strain exhibits two distinct phenotypic expressions. The indica-leaning variant typically reaches 0.6m to 1.5m in height, displaying a characteristic pyramidal structure. The sativa-dominant phenotype grows taller, between 1.3m and 1.8m, with a more flexible branching pattern suited to training techniques. Both phenotypes showcase a distinctive aromatic profile—particularly pungent and rank during the vegetative phase in the indica expression. The buds develop in a foxtail arrangement, maintain moderate airiness, and display abundant trichome coverage. The indica phenotype produces denser, less foliage-heavy flowers.
Extreme environmental pressures in the Sinai region have produced exceptionally resilient genetics. Local growing conditions fluctuate dramatically, reaching 50°c with high humidity during summer months, then shifting to freezing, arid winters. Traditional Bedouin cultivation methods remain minimal, typically incorporating camel manure as the primary soil amendment, with occasional additions of nutrient-rich sediment sourced from the Nile valley.
