Original Skunk #1 emerged from Sacred Seeds, a California-based breeder operating in the late 1970s. The strain resulted from combining three distinct landrace varieties: an Afghan Indica, Mexican Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold—both sativas. This groundbreaking creation became the first commercially stabilized hybrid to establish itself in the expanding Dutch cultivation community. Growers initially referred to it as "sinsemilla," a production method emphasizing cannabinoid concentration through seedless cultivation, which redirects the plant's resources toward trichome development rather than seed formation.
