About Mount Cook

Named after New Zealand's tallest peak (known as Aoraki in Māori), this strain embodies the ambition Kiwiseeds set out to achieve with a plant matching its iconic namesake. Mt Cook is a predominantly indica-leaning cross combining two exceptional genetics. The female parent traces back to Afghani and Thai ancestry, carefully selected from a large collection of candidates during Kiwiseeds' 1998 New Zealand breeding initiative. Selection criteria emphasized rapid maturation cycles, potent THC levels, and a tight, branching structure, alongside the fruity sensory profile contributed by Thai lineage. This cultivar was subsequently transported to the Netherlands as clone stock. Following extensive experimentation with different male partners, breeders identified an ideal match: a Northern Lights × Hashplant male previously employed in Kiwiseeds' Milky Way variety. Mt Cook expresses classic indica traits including dark-green foliage, sturdy stems with dense lateral branching, and resinous buds that glisten with an abundance of trichomes resembling frost. The resulting experience delivers a powerful, body-focused high with immobilizing intensity. While displaying slightly extended development compared to certain pure indicas, this strain maintains respectable maturation speed paired with reliable production volume, positioning it as an excellent choice for indoor cultivation.
